Tell us the three most important things about you
I am a self-employed Web Developer my day and crafter by night, I’m married to my lovely husband Mark, and adore my friends & family.
What inspires you to craft?
My Grandma was a bit of a rebel and attended art school in the 1930s – not really the done thing for women to do back in the day. She inspired all of us and I grew up in a very creative household. I’m obsessed with Pinterest so get a lot of inspiration from there, and when that doesn’t work, there’s nothing better than a walk along the sea front to clear out the cobwebs and get the creative juices flowing. What is your favourite craft? – It’s a solid tie between papercraft and crochet. I adore scrapbooking and making pretty little embellishments to stick on everything, but also really value the meditative nature of crochet.
What is the last thing you made and what did you love about it?
I’m busy stash-busting at the moment and made some really pretty little embellishments at my last crop I went to at the weekend. They’re so cute! Mixing up different patterns and colours is always fun.
When do you craft?
As often as I can! I’m not a morning person so I schedule in some time to play every morning before I crack on with work, it really wakes me up & gets my brain ticking over. I then take a lunch break and do a little crafting then, and then spend most of my evening pretending to work when I’m actually eyeing up my Cricut and planning out my next project… 🙂
Most loved craft tool (apart from your cutting machine!)
ooo tricky! Probably my iPad and Apple Pencil. I love to draw out designs which I then import into the Cricut Design Space to cut out. Oh and stickers – I’m counting them as a tool. There’s something about a sticker that gives me that gleeful glint in my eye and total satisfaction when I stick it down!
Best piece of advice for someone just starting out with their cutting machine?
It can be very overwhelming at first, but don’t panic! Check tutorials on YouTube and just go for it. You’ll feel much better after that first cut. Always feel free to call out for help in any relevant groups on social media, there will be lots of people that will gladly help.
What is your favourite one of our files and why?
I’m a sucker for geometric designs and I am a little bit in love with the Geometric Heart you’re kindly offering as a free download at the moment (If you missed our free file sign up to our newsletter where we post our freebies). It’s ridiculously versatile and so easy to use to create loads of different looks.
Apart from ours which is your favourite webpage to get files from?
I have recently found Paper Issues and it’s safe to say I’m now hooked. There’s some really lovely files on there.
